Carris' busThe other day I caught a bus when returning from International House Lisbon. It was the day in which I did the Speaking part of the CAE. Our teacher wasn’t expecting the students that would take part in the exam in that afternoon to show up in the morning class. I and a friend of mine stayed there for a moment and then we headed home.

I caught the bus as usual but I sat on the seat right behind the driver, which I am not used to do. When the bus stopped, at the next bus stop, an old woman entered the bus and said “good morning” to the driver. I became quite puzzled. I realized I have never done that.

Then I started meditating about that. I started trying to figure out if we should say “good morning” to bus drivers or not. The next time the bus stopped, more people entered and did the same the old lady did.

After all… what shall we do? Shall we say or not say “Good Morning”?

Yesterday afternoon my holidays started. The last class I had was English class. We presented group works about inventions of the 20th century on that class. While other group works were being presented a friend of mine used a portable PC to present me the MPC. A Music Production Center can be defined as an electronic musical instrument produced by the Japanese company Akai. My friend explained me the basic working of MPC’s and showed me a video from Boon Doc using an MPC 1000.

I was very impressed by that. I knew nearly nothing about MPC’s. I didn’t even know their names. Now I think having one would be good. But I don’t know if it is worth having one. They’re expensive (around £1000) and I think I wouldn’t have much time to use it. I also don’t know if I would be capable of making good music with it.

Here is the video my friend showed me, yesterday:

That friend has decided to change school and school course. I won’t be able to see him for a long time, I think.

Well. Today I did some research about MPC’s and I found this amazing video. Check it out:

Bye.

CAE written exams are now done. I finished them around 15.10.

I think I was successful in the exams I did today. I think they all were fairily simple but the Use of English exam. That’s strange because it uses to be the easiest part for me.

My lunch was at Pans & Company (it was the first time I ate there) with a friend of mine. She was the only student from my class doing the exam. After eating a long baguette filled with a big sausage and melted cheese, eating some chips and drinking a Coke (I asked for Fanta, actually) I returned to have the Listening part. During this part a mobile phone rung which is not supposed to happen.

Overall: it was fine.

I’m supposed to be able to access my results the 31st July at cambridgeESOL-results.org.

Well… my CAE exams are tomorrow. I’m going to do Reading, Writing, Use of English and Listening parts. June 20th I’m doing Speaking.

I’m nervous but I hope it will be fine. I’ll let you know later.
